It shouldn’t have surprised us – after all, we live in North East Ohio. But somehow the snow storm on Monday, Feb 21 took most of us by surprise. We’ve gotten used to tuning into our favorite weather prognosticator and being able to plan for what’s ahead. None of them pegged the Monday snowstorm for anything close to what it turned out to be. We like to be able to predict what is to come in all kinds of ways. Most of us live our lives by the calendar and the clock. We know where we need to be when – at least most of the time! We make our plans for what we will do when the weather warms up. We’ve got the plans in place for our summer vacation. But sometimes stuff happens that makes us change everything we had planned. It’s hard in a world of so many surprises to know what it is that we really can trust in. The book of Hebrews offers some guidance in the 13th chapter when the writers tells us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Whenever we let the weather forecaster, or our calendar or clock, or our vacation plans become the guidance for our lives we truly are lost. There is one however, no matter what the season, that we can trust as our guide through life. Thanks be to God that we can plan on God’s grace through Jesus Christ!
Blessings on your journey!
